Many people enjoy the company of an animal companion. Animals can be entertaining and fun to play with, but the joys of owning a pet has more benefits than most people realize. Owning a pet has been proven to actually help children build immunity towards allergies. Pet owners also show a decrease in blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels which minimizing the risk of having a heart attack due to a pet’s tendency to reduce or help maintain stress levels. Dogs in particular can help maintain one’s health due to the need to walk, jog, or hike multiple times a day. Pet owners find that they have an easier connecting with other pet owners by instantly having something in common that can break the ice.
One of the strongest benefits of owning a pet is their companionship. Often, pets are very loyal to their human benefactors and provide unconditional love. This can really help someone that is feeling down by providing that companionship and giving them a sense of purpose to keep moving. There are some programs that will unite prison inmates with animals that are deemed unfit for adoption. This program gives both the human and the animal a second chance at redemption. The inmate is given the responsibility for caring for the animal and training them to behave, while the animal learns to show the inmate what unconditional loves feels like and the reward of caring for another living being. In the end, both end up succeeding better than they did before meeting.
Pets are almost magical in the way that they are able to affect humans. Both grow and find happiness together. It is almost as if pets and humans were made to be in each other’s lives. The joy that pets can bring to people and the benefits they can bring to life earns them a star in the sky with their name on it. A shining example of how beautiful living creatures can be when they are able to truly love one another.
