The late Michael Jackson got an early start to his musical career in 1964 when he took to the stage with four of his older brothers in the group “The Jackson 5.” Together they had acclaimed some fame as four of their singles topped the charts at number one. In 1971, Michael began to pursue his solo career, though he continued to work with his brothers and their band for a time. Michael’s album “Off the Wall” in 1979 is what really established him as an independent solo artist.
Michael is still recognized as the “King of Pop” to this day. But his accomplishments seem to encompass so much more than just that. He was a brilliant songwriter for himself and his brothers’ band, an excellent dancer and world renowned singer. But it was more than his skills that made him so beloved. His songs were credited with breaking down racial barriers. He also traveled the world to attend humanitarian events and supported 39 different charities; which was more than any other entertainer supported at the time.
Michael has received so many awards for his talents and accomplishments. He is one of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame twice. He has also been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Dance Hall of Fame. He has also received numerous awards from the Guinness book of world records, Grammy Awards and American Music Awards. It seems only right that we dedicate a star to this monumental icon. I genuinely feel that Michael would have enjoyed the idea of having his name on a star in the sky. He was the moonwalker, afterall.
